Bailieboro & Tierworker Gun club

was founded in the 1960s by local people who have an interest in game development and the sport of shooting. Since its conception in the 1960s it has grown from a few members to a a very successful 42 members,  all of whom are  living or working in the general community many sons of founder members many neighbours and relatives of founding members.

Affiliated to the NARGC (National Association of Regional Game Councils) the club members are Fully insured.and carry identification to prove this. In simplistic terms the insurance protects Members for third party and/or member-to-member liability arising in the course of their shooting activities while using a shotgun or rifle and pursuing any game or pest species Members are protected if their dog causes injury or damage to persons or property, Members are protected for liability arising from club activities.

The Gun Club is reliant on the goodwill of the farming community for giving us permission to shoot on their land and for this we are grateful.

Club Activities

On our game management side we have an active game release programme and undertake a vermin programme under the various derogations issued by the Minister to control the ever growing magpie, grey crow and fox populations.

A lot of our members are active clay pigeon shooters and partake in disciplines as varied as Down The Line, English Sporting, Compact Sporting, ABT and Skeet.  We support local clay pigeon shoots and grounds.

Members of Bailieboro and Tierworker Gun Club have consistently represented Cavan at National Clay Pigeon Shooting Competions and have won the National Title in 2000 and 2001.

The Gun club is not all about shooting, It is also about active participation in the  community, best exemplified by most recently in 2007, when we raised a significant amount of money for two well deserving local charities namely The Ballinamoney Child Care Project and the Bailieboro Red Cross Ambulance appeal

Membership is open to those living in or who have links to the area for more details contact the secretary.
